Prior to becoming an author and publishing his debut book, Kevin Nguyen worked in the editing world. Kevin was the a senior editor at GQ magazine, and the features editor at the websiteThe Verge, which he joined in November 2018. Kevin has also had his writings published in various publications, such as The New York Times, The Atlantic and The New Republic.

Kevin has also worked as a volunteer for the National Book Foundation, and is a Junior Committee Member. He attended the University of Puget Sound.

New Waves follows Lucas and Margo, two disillusioned employees at a tech startup. Lucas and Margo plan to steal their company's user database as revenge against their mistreatment.

After Margo's sudden death in a car accident, Lucas uncovers secrets about her life, leading him to question their friendship and the true nature of her accident, while the novel explores themes of race, technology, and human connection in the modern world.
