Kate was employed by ESPN. Before joining the staff at ESPN, she worked as
the Philadelphia Inquirer’s beat writer for the NBA’s 76ers, a role she filled from 2008 to 2011.
While attending the University of Colorado at Boulder where she lettered in basketball. She set a Big 12 Conference record by making 44 consecutive free throws during the 2002-03 season and was a perennial First-Team Academic Big 12 performer.
Kate started her professional career as a sports editor for
the Ellensburg Daily Record in 2006; the next year she moved to
the Glens Falls Post-Star as a sportswriter.
While she was at ESPN, she made regular TV appearances on First Take and Around the Horn. She had at least 36 wins on Around the Horn. Kate was a co-host of The Trifecta with Spain, Jane and Kate with Jane McManus and Sarah Spain on espnW and Will and Kate with Will Cain on ESPN Radio. Kate wound up being at ESPN from 2012 to 2018.
