She and her sister, Barbara, decided to become involved in her dad’s 2004 run for President. They made several joint public appearances, including giving a speech to the Republican Convention. They took turns traveling to swing states with their dad, and gave a seven page interview and photo shoot in Vogue. Jenna and Barbara also developed a friendship with Vanessa and Alexandra, John Kerry’s daughters who campaigned on their dad’s behalf.

In 2007, she started marketing a book proposal with Robert B. Barnett’s help, he being a Washington attorney. The book’s name is Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope, which chronicles her experiences working with UNICEF sponsored charities in Latin America, including visits to drought stricken Paraguay in 2006 as she worked as an intern for United Nations Children’s Fund.

Once her dad’s presidency ended, she became an author, an editor-at-large for Southern Living magazine, and a television personality on NBC, getting featured most prominently as a member of The Today Show as a co-host, contributor, and correspondent.
