Jay Newman

Jay Newman was born in New York City,. Newman attended Yale University where they received a B.A. in economics, Columbia University where they received a Juris Doctor degree and New York University where they received a Master of Laws degree in Tax Law.

Jay Newman has written one standalone novel so far. This novel is called Undermoney and it was released in 2022. There are no upcoming standalone novels by Jay at this time.

In Undermoney, Newman used his knowledge of the financial world to craft the plot. The thriller is about American operatives who take over the world's largest dark money hedge fund. The book received many positive reviews upon release, including from Lee Child, author of the Jack Reacher series, who said Undermoney was "essential reading—makes your heart beat faster, like a thriller should, but also teaches you something big, which most thrillers don't."

Before his debut novel, Jay spent forty years in international finance. He managed investments in sovereign debt, including the distressed sovereign debt of Latin American, Eastern European, African, and Asian countries. Newman is considered the mastermind behind the fight to recover billions of dollars in defaulted debt from the government of Argentina. The return was 392 percent of the original value of the bonds and is considered one of the greatest hedge fund trades of all time.
