Clinton Romesha is a retired United States Army soldier. Inspired by his strong military background, he joined the army in 1999 and served in various locations, including Colorado, Germany, and South Korea. He had four deployments, including two to Iraq, one to Kosovo, and one to Afghanistan, where he worked as a tank crew member and cavalry scout.

In 2009, Romesha was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 61st Cavalry Regiment, and deployed to Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan. When the Taliban attacked the base, Romesha was credited for rallying his team and leading a counterattack while providing cover fire to help the wounded reach the first aid station. Despite being wounded himself, he continued to fight.

In 2013, Romesha received the Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama for his extraordinary actions during the Battle of Kamdesh. He left the army in 2011 to be closer to his family and took a job in the oil industry in North Dakota.

Romesha published his first book, Red Platoon, in 2016, which recounts the Battle of Keating. That same year, Sony Pictures adapted the book into a movie. Additionally, Romesha appeared with a group of other veterans in the zombie film Range 15 as a fictional character.
