Always look forward to reading one of Beverly Lewis’ books. She has a fantastic writing style and her books feature some beautiful people in such wonderful stories. These books bring me the peace I need during some times that I feel a bit down.
Beverly’s novels take you off to another world, bringing to life the Amish and the world that they live in. And it is quite easy for me to read through one of them in just a single sitting.
Ella Mae Zook is my favorite of her characters as she never fails to be wise and lift me up.
Beverly Lewis’s novels are shockingly good. I say ‘Shockingly’ because I have always laughed at the notion of Amish fiction. In fact, my opinion of the Amish was always negative. Their way of life seemed so ridiculous.
I was tempted to dismiss Beverly’s portrayal of the Amish lifestyle until I realized that she comes from an Amish background. She knows what she’s talking about.
Her books fascinated me initially because of the insight they provided into the Amish way of things. I still don’t know what to make of the religion, but I’m more curious than dismissive.
Eventually, I noticed how suspenseful Beverly’s stories were. I think I would have read them sooner if the Amish component was absent. I stayed away for so long because I doubted this genre’s ability to entertain me. But I was wrong. These books are awesome.
