Arthur Koestler was born on September 5th, 1905. Arthur passed away March 1st, 1983 at 77 years old. Arthur Koestler was born in Budapest, Hungary. Koestler attended Vienna Polytechnic University.

In 1976, Arthur was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and in 1979 with terminal leukaemia. By the time Arthur was in his teens he was fluent in Hungarian, German, French and English. In his later years he became fluent enough in Hebrew to write stories in that language, he was also fluent enough in Russian to get by while he was in the Soviet Union. It is believed that Arthur created the world's first Hebrew crossword puzzle.
