Val Emmich
Val Emmich was born in 1979 and is currently 47 years old. Val Emmich was born in Manalapan Township, NJ, United States.
Val Emmich is a singer-songwriter, actor, and writer.
When he was 15, he was diagnosed with Lyme disease and was forced to give up all strenuous activities. It was during this time that he learned to play guitar and started writing songs.
In 2001, he and fellow musician Andy Gesner founded Artist Amplification, a program designed to help independent musicians and bands gain more exposure to the music industry and its fans.
While attending Rutgers University, he performed with various bands, including Ben Trovato and Awake Asleep. His first band was called Superband, and he submitted a demo to Andy Gesner, who was promoting New Brunswick Underground. Andy put off listening to them because of their name. However, he listened to it while on a flight and got hooked, beginning their musical collaboration.
Superband would change their names to Ben Trovato and release an album. Val’s next band, called Awake Asleep, also released one album, with Gesner playing bass.
After graduating from Rutgers with a degree in American Studies, he recorded an indie EP called "The 15 Minute Relationship."
Then he recorded "Slow Down Kid," his full-length independent album, which Wayne Dorrell produced, and it was released on Childlike Records.
The Reminders follows what happens when a girl who can’t forget befriends a man who’s desperate to remember.
Gavin, grief-stricken over his partner Sydney’s death, sets fire to every reminder in the couple’s home before he flees LA for New Jersey, where he hopes he can find peace with the family of an old friend. But instead, he finds Joan.
Joan is the family’s 10-year-old daughter, born with Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory (or HSAM), a rare ability to recall every day of her life in total cinematic detail. Joan had never met Gavin until now. However, she did know his partner, and waiting inside her uncanny mind are some startlingly vivid memories to prove it.
Gavin strikes a deal with her: in return for sharing her memories of Sydney with him, Gavin is going to help her win this songwriting contest that she is convinced will make her unforgettable. The unlikely pair set off on their quest, until Joan revealed some unexpected details about Sydney’s last months, forcing Gavin to question not just the purity of his past with Sydney but also the course of his own immediate future.
Told in the alternating voices of two irresistible characters, this is a tender and hilarious exploration of memory, loss, friendship, and renewal.
