Tamer Elnoury
Tamer Elnoury was born in Egypt.
Tamer Elnoury is a former FBI agent who worked undercover to infiltrate North American terrorist cells. During his time as an agent, he used the pseudonym
Tamer Alnoury as one of the many aliases for his undercover work.
For years, Elnoury posed as an angry and rich Arab-American who identified with radical causes. In one instance, he got on a plane to Toronto from New York and sat beside a man who was plotting a train attack in Canada. He managed to convince the man that he shared his views.
Over about 10 months, Tamer Elnoury got the trust of the radical groups. He managed to learn of a plot to bomb Times Square and derail a passenger train. Using smart investigation and patience, he was credited with stopping both plots.
At some point when he was at the
9/11 Memorial, a radical friend whispered that the place needed to be bombed again. While he struggled with his emotions, he fought the urge to fight back so that he could accomplish his mission.
When the terrorists were apprehended and charged, Elnoury testified in court under his pseudonym to send them to prison for life. The judge took all precautions to ensure that his identity was not made public.
Tamer Elnoury would then share his story in a memoir so that people would know about how his faith and American patriotism motivated him to protect his country from dangerous radicals.
Tamer Elnoury’s work,
American Radical, chronicles his time as an undercover agent starting in 2001 when he joined the counterterrorism unit.
The unit was founded to infiltrate terrorist cells that intended to conduct devastating attacks against Americans. Alongside his colleagues, he found himself in a race against time to try to stop the terrorists before they executed their plans.
As an active Muslim working as a federal agent with the counterterrorism division, he showcases his experience getting the trust of a terror cell in the US and finally dismantling it.
He shows how dangerous spy work can be, even as he explains how he used his faith to protect people and stop radicalized elements from executing their evil plans.
