Spencer Quinn did something I never thought possible. He made me get a dog. I wasn’t a fan of animals. I use the past tense because that has changed. You can blame Chet for my transformation. I rolled my eyes when my local librarian described these books to me.

They sounded corny and ridiculous. But then I read ‘Dog On It,’ and Chet won over. I don’t think my initial assessment was wrong. But Spencer is such a great writer that it did not matter.

He immerses you in the world of his canine characters, giving them a solid voice that keeps you glued to the page. I bought the entire series for my youngest nephew, and he loved them as well. Then we went and adopted a few puppies.

Love that the stories are told from Chet’s point of view. He sometimes will miss a clue due to not understanding a popular catchphrase but in the end, he always solves the case with Bernie’s help of course.
