Sherry Thomas is a force of nature. I don’t think I have ever encountered an author as diverse as her. I remember reading ‘Not Quite A Husband’ and liking it. The novel wasn’t necessarily mind-blowing. But as far as conventional romance novels are concerned, it ticked all the right boxes.
But then a friend sent me ‘A Study in Scarlet Women,’ an alternate take on the Sherlock Holmes mythos, and my jaw fell into my lap, and not just because the book was brilliant. I don’t know which novel came first, but the transition from contemporary romance to historical fiction was shockingly sharp. Before I could get my bearings, Sherry threw another curve ball my way. I bought and read ‘The Burning Sky’ on a single weekend. ‘The Burning Sky’ is a YA fantasy.
How does she do it? How does Sherry write so beautifully in so many disparate genres?
Sherry Thomas is a well-established writer of Historical Romance novels. My first ever book was the second in the Lady Sherlock series, and then I went to the first one. The Burning Sky novel has intriguing dragons, forbidden romance, and magic spells. There are so many things that adored me in the books, and I can’t mention all of them. Her fantasy novels are the kind that I can just consume in a single day. All I want is to jump in and enjoy a story with a few likable characters as I enjoy hanging out in their world as I get to know them better.
Really enjoy the Lady Sherlock series. An interesting twist on the whole Sherlock thing, and shows how far women had to go during that time to accomplish what their male counterparts were just attempting
