Sarah Eyre
Eyre attended Nottingham Trent University where she received a BA with Honours in Photography.
Sarah Eyre is the co-editor of the anthology
The New Uncanny: Tales of Ease with Ra Page.
This anthology is part of the
Common Modern Horror series, which also features
The New Abject: Tales of Modern Unease, and
Phobic: Modern Horror Stories.
It's a very noteworthy anthology, as it won the 2008 Shirley Jackson Award for the Best Anthology.
The New Uncanny also features the story "Possum" by Matthew Holness. Matthew adapted that short story into a movie. The psychological horror movie was his directorial debut, and he also wrote the screenplay. It won numerous awards at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, such as Best Cinematography and Best Actor.
That was the first anthology that Sarah Eyre had edited; however, she returned in 2020 with Ra Page to edit another anthology,
The New Abject: Tales of the Modern Universe.
That anthology features stories from authors such as Matthew Holness, Ramsey Campbell and Paul Theroux.
Sarah works at Comma Press, a company which she co-founded. Her co-editor on those anthologies, Ra Page, was the founder of the Manchester Stories Magazine, and a Manchester Poetry Festival director and is the co-founder of Comma Press.
Prior to co-founding Comma Press, Sarah spent many years in the book field working for Carcanet Press and also for Waterstones. She is both a lecturer and an artist.
