Sandra Boynton (Sandra Keith Boynton) was born on April 3rd, 1953 and is currently 73 years old. Sandra Boynton was born in Orange, New Jersey, USA. Boynton attended Yale University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Sandra also attended the University of California, Berkeley.

Sandra Boynton is a director, music producer, songwriter, humorist, and illustrator. She’s designed wallpaper, calendars, bedding, paper goods, stationery, jewelry, plush toys for numerous companies. She’s written and illustrated numerous kids books and general audience books, music albums, more than 4,000 greeting cards.

Sandra has frequently cited Germantown Friends’ arts-centered curriculum as being central to her own upbeat/offbeat sensibility along with its thorough integration of the values of independent inquiry, pacifism, and individualism. She and her sisters attended Germantown Friends School from kindergarten to 12th grade, where their dad was Head of the Upper School and taught English.

At her graduation from Yale in 1974, she got a Special Master’s Magna solemnly bestowed upon her by Charles Davis, the Master of Sandra’s residential college, Calhoun College. It was just a fiction, unbeknownst to the audience in attendance. Her GPA didn’t entitle her to any degree honor, however she told Davis that her parents were there and she’d appreciate it if he could just mumble some Latin after her name.

She went to the University of California, Berkeley for a year for grad studies in drama before transferring to Yale School of Drama DFA program, but she didn’t complete this program. She indefinitely postponed her original goal of becoming a theater director after her first child was born in 1979.

Her greeting card designs for Recycled Paper Greetings were at the forefront of the Alternative Cards commercial movement which started during the mid-70s. Her distinctive humorous cards (featuring her assortment of unnamed cartoon animal characters, droll message, and spare layout) sold between 1973 and 2003. Her birthday card saying “Hippo Birdie Two Ewes” alone has sold more than 10 million copies since its 1975 release.
