Ron Clark

Ron Clark (Ronald Lyle Clark Jr.) was born on October 24th, 1972 and is currently 52 years old. Ron Clark was born in Chocowinity, North Carolina, USA. Clark attended East Carolina University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Ron Clark is one of the most reputable motivational speakers, authors, and educators from the United States.

He got his start in teaching in provincial North Carolina, but then moved to Harlem in New York, where he used inventive teaching techniques that had a significant impact on the performance of his students, most of whom were from low-income neighborhoods.

It was from his experiences teaching low-income schools in Harlem that Ron Clark published his first work, The Essential 55. The work became a bestseller in the New York Times and made him one of the leading voices in education reform.

In 2007, Clark became the co-founder of the Atlanta-Georgia based Ron Clark Academy, which developed a reputation for its passion for academic excellence and innovative teaching methods. The academy was a training center for worldwide educators as it promotes engaging and dynamic teaching practices.

Ron Clark has made many contributions to education, and for his work, he was awarded the Disney Teacher of the Year Award. In addition to the many awards he has won, his story was made into The Ron Clark Story, a TV film that starred Matthew Perry in the lead role.

In 2019, Ron Clark participated in Survivor: Edge of Extinction, which significantly upped his public profile. He was voted out in the thirteenth round and went on to serve on the jury.

His innovative approach to education and dedication remain an inspiration for students and educators across the world.

In 2003, Ron Clark published his seminal work, The Essential 55, which is a book with 55 rules to instill discipline, responsibility, and respect in students for their personal development and academic performance.

He draws from his experiences teaching in Harlem and North Carolina to teach on social skills and manners such as engaging in polite conversation, expressing gratitude, and making eye contact, which he asserts are essential for student success.

The Excellent 11 is a work that Ron Clark published in 2004. Yet again, Clark draws from his experiences to teach on student attributes such as resilience, enthusiasm, appreciation, adventure, common sense, and creativity, among others.

He uses practical strategies and personal anecdotes to show how to implement the attributes in educational settings. He asserts that by encouraging these attributes, it creates a dynamic and supportive learning environment that fosters both personal growth and academic success in students.

Another popular work by Ron Clark is Move Your Bus, which he published in 2015. Using the metaphor of a bus to illustrate team dynamics, he classifies people into riders, drivers, walkers, runners, and joggers.

Riders hinder progress, drivers steer the organization, walkers contribute minimally, runners make exceptional effort, while joggers just do what is expected of them and nothing more.

Clark emphasizes how important it is to recognize the roles of each member in the team to build a more cohesive and effective team. By doing this, an organization can achieve success by ensuring every member contributes positively to team goals.
