Along with publishing a novel, Pitchaya wrote numerous short stories and essays which were featured in the likes of Esquire, The New Yorker and The Morning News.

"Finding Justice in the Streets" was the name of the letter he wrote in "There's a Revolution Outside, My Love", an anthology edited by Tracy K. Smith.

Pitchaya's debut novel, "Bangkok Wakes to Rain", was listed on many year-end books list. Both the Washington Post and New York Times listed it on their notable books of the year lists.
