Pete Beatty has written one standalone novel so far. This novel is called Cuyahoga and was released in 2020. There are no upcoming standalone novels by Pete at this time.

Cuyahoga was longlisted for the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel. The book was called a "light-hearted parody of America’s founding mythologies” by The Wall Street Journal.

Brian Phillips, author of Impossible Owls, wrote that Cuyahoga "defies all modest description: It’s deliriously fun to read: nonstop laughs, pages that whiz by, and a style that seems to gather up and beautify an entire history of American bullshit artistry." While Ben Loory, author of Tales of Falling and Flying, called it a "great big American bouncy castle of a book—strange, exhilarating, hilarious and alive—and every sentence so perfect! An absolute delight.”

Beatty is a native of the Cleveland area and used his knowledge of his home state as a place to begin the wild tale he tells in Cuyahoga.

In addition to his novel, he has written for numerous publications, including Vice Sports, GQ, Baseball Prospectus, and Vulture.

Pete has also taught writing at the University of Alabama, Kent State University, and the Alabama Prison Arts & Education Program.
