I am surprised to see books on this list that date back to the 1990s. A friend has a shelf dedicated to Nicci French, and ‘What To Do When Someone Dies’ is their oldest book. This is where I started, and it did not disappoint.
My friend’s partner passed away days before I read the book, so I could sympathize with Ellie’s plight. I have read every Nicci French novel that comes after ‘What To Do When Someone Dies.’ Now I just have to find the books that came before.
Though, there are so many novels on this list that I don’t know where to start. I am tempted to go with ‘The Memory Game,’ but it came out in 1997, and I’m worried it won’t live up to the author’s current quality of writing and storytelling. 1997 was a long time ago.
