Before discovering Nevada Barr, I couldn’t understand how people could read long-running series, especially those that extended into the double digits. I prefer standalones and trilogies, and any series that exceeds 4 or 5 books has outstayed its welcome, in my opinion.
Anna Pigeon is the exception. I read 16 of these novels over the course of a year, and I can’t get enough of them. First of all, they are short. As such, they never drag. Barr doesn’t waste time.
Secondly, I like Pigeon. I know at least one reader who called her stupid. But I appreciate her naïve attitude. It makes her refreshing. If Barr keeps writing Anna Pigeon books, I will keep reading them.
I have fully enjoyed every book in the Anna Pigeon series. The writing is good and strong, and I love the mysteries set in the various Parks. The books and information presented have increased my enjoyment when I have visited a few of those parks. Awesome series.
The Anna Pigeon series is outstanding!! I love that each one takes place in a different National Park. Makes me want to go to all of them!!
I love that the authors protagonist is a park ranger and has amassed a variety of skills and training which help her daily. It’s fascinating to learn about the different National Parks too. I never knew the USA had so many.
