Naguib Mahfouz (Naguib Mahfouz Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Ahmed Pasha) was born on December 11th, 1911. Naguib passed away August 30th, 2006 at 94 years old. Naguib Mahfouz was born in Old Cairo, Egypt. Mahfouz attended Cairo University where he received a BA in Philosophy.

Naguib Mahfouz is probably best known for his Standalone Novels. There are currently 37 novels available. The first standalone was released in 1939 with the novel Khufu's Wisdom. The most recently released novel was The Coffeehouse which was released in 2010.

Naguib Mahfouz also wrote the Collections series which has 9 books including God's World and Tales of the Black Cat.

Many of his works have been made into Egyptian and foreign films. His most famous works include The Cairo Trilogy and Children of Gebelawi.
