Mike Binder is an American filmmaker, stand-up comedian, and actor. He grew up in Birmingham, a suburb of Detroit. From 1966 to 1975, he spent summers at Camp Tamakwa in Canada, an experience that inspired his 1993 film
Indian Summer.
Binder began his career as a screenwriter and stand-up comedian. His first screenplay,
Coupe de Ville, premiered in 1990, coinciding with a comedy special he had on HBO that same weekend. In 1992, he directed his second screenplay,
Crossing the Bridge.
He gained more fame with the HBO series
The Mind of the Married Man (2001-02), where he co-wrote, co-directed, and starred as Micky Barnes. His film
