Marcus Buckingham
Marcus Buckingham (Marcus Wilifrid Buckingham) was born on January 11th, 1966 and is currently 59 years old. Marcus Buckingham was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. Buckingham attended Pembroke College, Cambridge where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social and Political Sciences.
Marcus Buckingham is a motivational speaker, an author, and business consultant.
Marcus had a stammer that he struggled with, and was unable to speak until he was 13. He learned how to manage it when he was asked to formally address the boys at his prep school, and pretended that he was speaking to just one person, instead of 300. It proved to be a success.
He was recruited by Donald O. Clifton (psychology professor and founder of Selection Research Inc.). Clifton co-founded SRI to develop interviews allowing businesses to identify talents in individuals, matching people to the right roles.
After SRI acquired The Gallup Organization, Marcus became a member of this team working on a survey to measure a broad range of factors which contribute to employee engagement. Based on such surveys and interviews with thousands of managers, he published a book called
First, Break All the Rules.
He founded The Marcus Buckingham Company in order to create management training programs and tools. It helped him launch this coordinated series of products in conjunction with the publication of one of his books.
Marcus made a number of TV appearances as himself, on
The View, The Oprah Winfrey Show,
I Want to Work for Diddy,
The Jane Pauley Show, and
Good Morning America.
Love and Work: How to Find What You Love, Love What You Do, and Do It for the Rest of Your Life helps you find where you are at your best, both in life and at work.
You have long been told to do what you love. It sounds simple, however the true challenge is doing this in a world that isn’t set up to help you. Many of us don’t actually know the full truth of what we love, what engages us and makes us all thrive, and our schools, workplaces, jobs, and even our own parents, are more focused on making us conform. But sadly, no system or person is dedicated to learning the vital intersection between what you loving doing and how you contribute it to other people.
In an uplifting and eye opening book, Marcus shows you how you break out of such a conformity, how to decode your own loves, transform them into their most powerful expression, and do the same for those you lead and those that you love.
How you use love to reveal such unique gifts? How can you pinpoint what makes you stand out from anybody else? This book unlocks the answers to such questions and more.
