Madonna
Madonna (Madonna Louise Ciccone) was born on August 16th, 1958 and is currently 66 years old. Madonna was born in Bay City, Michigan, USA.
Madonna is the Queen of Pop; a singer, songwriter, actress, and producer. Her work incorporates political, social, sexual, and religious themes, which have all generated both critical acclaim and controversy.
She attended Catholic schools and was known for her high grade point average and she achieved notoriety for her unconventional behavior. Madonna would perform handstands and cartwheels in between classes while in the halls, dangle by her knees from the monkey bars during recess, and hike up her skirt during class, for all of the boys to see her underwear.
Her dad put her in classical piano lessons, however she convinced him to let her take ballet lessons, and her ballet teacher (Christopher Flynn) persuaded her to pursue a dance career.
Madonna became a straight A student during high school and a member of its cheerleading squad. Upon graduating, she got a dance scholarship to the University of Michigan and studied during the summer at the American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina.
She moved to New York City in 1978 in order to pursue a dance career. After performing as a guitarist, drummer, and vocalist in rock bands like Emmy and the Emmys and Breakfast Club, she rose to solo stardom when her 1983 self-titled debut album was released.
This is after she got signed to make a total of three singles, with an option for an entire album. They did well enough to make a full album. Although she was not satisfied with how the completed songs that the producer she’d been set up with had done, so she wanted further help. She asked John Benitez to help finish up the album for her. He remixed much of the tracks and produced her first international top ten song, called “Holiday”.
Her career was enhanced by movies like
Desperately Seeking Susan,
A League of Their Own, and
Dick Tracy.
Madonna won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her performance in
Evita in 1996.
The English Roses is a story about friendship and rivalry among the schoolgirls in contemporary London. Grace, Nicole, Amy, and Charlotte are all eleven years old and the best of friends. They have picnics, sleepovers, and ice-skating parties which exclude Binah, this beautiful girl whose seemingly perfect life makes them all “green with envy”.
But when this pumpernickel-loving and feisty fairy godmother takes them on this magical journey, they learn much to their great surprise that she’s not living the enviable life they thought she was.
