In
Madam Secretary: A Memoir, a highly praised and outspoken memoir, the highest-ranking woman in American history shares her remarkable tale and provides an insider’s view of world affairs during a period of some unprecedented turbulence.
The book was a national bestseller upon its first publication in 2003, and combines profound insights with warm humor and personal testament with some fascinating additions to the historical record.
Fascism: A Warning is an urgent and personal examination of Fascism during the 20th century and how its legacy shapes today’s world.
A Fascist is somebody that claims to speak for group or an entire nation, is fully unconcerned with the rights of others, and is willing to use violence or whatever other means necessary in order to achieve their goals.
The 20th century was defined by the clash between Fascism and democracy, which is a struggle which created such uncertainty about the survival of human freedom and left millions dead. Given all the horrors of this experience, one may expect the world to reject the spiritual successors to Mussolini and Hitler. Madeleine draws on her experiences as a kid in war-torn Europe and her distinguished career as a diplomat in order to question such an assumption.
Fascism, like she illustrates, not only endured through the 20th century but presents an even more virulent threat to justice and peace than at any other time since the conclusion of World War II. The momentum which swept the world once the Berlin Wall fell has gone into reverse. The US, which historically had championed the free world, had been led by a president that exacerbates division and heaps scorn upon democratic institutions.
