Lucinda Riley is one of those authors whose books I enjoy because I don’t have to think that hard when I read them. My library has plenty of heavy and highly complex tomes. But after a hard day’s work, I am more likely to re-read a Seven Sisters novel.
My brother struggled with the first Lucinda Riley book he read because he thought some of the developments were implausible. But that is the charm of the author’s style.
I don’t know if she had a different goal for her books. But I am always entertained by her work precisely because it isn’t challenging. I can just sit back and have a good time. She gives me what I want: great characters and interesting plots. I don’t have to overthink her stories.
