Kerry Barnes is one of the few writers who weave a gripping thriller that shocks you to the core. Her books surpass all my expectations and leave me craving for more. Kerry’s unique writing style made the Cruel Secrets series a gritty and exciting read. I liked how Kelly’s character evolved, and even though she’s caring, she turns to the opposite once someone crosses her. The series explores the unseen crime world, and violence adds a gritty authenticity to the plot. The Outcast novel is one of my favorite family drama stories I’ve ever read. I felt so bad when I completed it; I wish it were a series. In the Ruthless series, the stories are one hell of a page-turner and kept me hooked.
I don’t know what I was reading before Kerry Barnes came along. I have spent the last three months lost in the web of lies and deceit she has cast over me. I keep jumping back and forth between the Cruel Secrets and Ruthless books.
I use this tactic with every new author with an extensive bibliography that I discover. I know readers that have abandoned amazing stories because they read several novels in the same series one after another, and they got burnt out.
I prefer to insert breaks in between. So far, neither series has disappointed. As far as gangland authors go, I can’t think of anyone better than Barnes.
