Gay Jr. attended Saint Augustine’s College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a Master’s Degree in Christian Studies and Ethics.

Jerome Gay Jr. is the teaching pastor and founder of the Raleigh, North Carolina-based Vision Church.

It was in 2010 that he founded the church after working for years in church leadership, campus ministry, and prayer. At the church, he helps guide the direction of Vision Church, as he encourages people in their faith and teaches from the Bible as the Lead Pastor in charge of Vision and Teaching.

Jerome Gay Jr.’s Vision Church emphasizes sharing the gospel in the community through leadership growth, service, and discipleship. It also has a focus on helping people grow personally, socially, and spiritually.

A year later, Jerome Gay Jr. published The Whitewashing of Christianity, to explain the false narrative that Christianity is a product of white culture.

He goes back over history and studies society and religion to show how the church in America was responsible for the wrongful assumption that Christianity is an invention of the white man. He looks into the bible and stories from places such as Africa, which were changed or ignored.

Jerome shows the Christian roots in Africa, as he explores the contributions of African Martyrs and theologians. He also offers ways for churches and people to change their perspectives on the origin of Christianity and move forward in truth and unity.

In Church Hurt, which he published in 2023, Jerome Gay Jr. writes about the many times people have been caused pain by church members, leaders, and communities.

He explains that people could be forced away from church and the Christian faith because of church hurt. He shows how people can be hurt in church and how it impacts both pastors and members.

It draws from Biblical principles and practical tools to help its audience identify abuse, work toward forgiveness and healing, and understand the different roles in the church.

It also has workbook sections for readers who need help with repairing relationships and their faith.
