Out of everything he has written, Gregg Hurwitz’s Orphan X series has to be my favorite, and I am glad it will continue on after Prodigal Son.

Evan Smoak is one of the best written characters in fiction, and is so very heartbreaking. Each one is better than the one before it. You sympathize with Evan’s sensitive side and root for him while he fights the bad guys, wishing that he didn’t have to necessarily pick between the two the whole time.

Joey’s addition into the series is terrific too, and the banter she has with Evan is sometimes hysterically funny.

I have been orbiting Gregg Hurwitz’s work for many years now. But for some reason, I haven’t yet taken the plunge. I have a friend who loves Orphan X. He gushes about the book every time I mention the film adaptation. He hates the fact that plans for a live-action movie keep unraveling.

Another friend is obsessed with ‘The Book of Henry.’ Apparently, Gregg wrote the screenplay. I think I read one of his Batman comics. I can’t be sure. I vaguely remember seeing his name on a comic book I had just bought.

It doesn’t really matter. This year, I am determined to dedicate my time to Gregg’s stories, starting with Orphan X, if only to determine whether or not it justifies the hype

Probably just a matter of time before the Orphan X novels are made into film since they’re so action packed and enjoyable but in some way, I hope not since rarely is an adapted movie as satisfying as the original book. I might be wrong in this case depending on who plays the lead role.

The Orphan X series is one of my all time favorites – I simply cannot find fault with any of them – I just need MORE!!! Feed me!!! I have had #9 Lone Wolf on pre-order from Audible for months now, I’m counting down the days until Feb 13, 2024. Oh, and big shoutout to Scott Brick, the audible reader for this series. His voice is perfect in this role, and I’m so glad that Hurwitz was able to nail him down for all of them!

The Kill Clause – first book I have read by this author. I was looking for Orphan X which wasn’t available so I went with this one. Interesting twist at the end.

It’s been awhile since I read that series and I only read the first two – but I have the second one rated even higher than the first one so worth checking out.

Just finished Lone Wolf and really enjoyed it. This series is a go to for me and while this book was not my favorite I don’t think Orphan X fans will be disappointed. His books are so action packed that I don’t understand why no one has picked them up for a series.
