George Stephanopoulos

George Stephanopoulos (George Robert Stephanopoulos) was born on February 10th, 1961 and is currently 64 years old. George Stephanopoulos was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, USA. Stephanopoulos attended Columbia University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree and Balliol College, Oxford where he received a Master of Arts degree.

George Stephanopoulos is a political commentator, TV host, and former Democratic advisor.

George worked as an aide to Ed Feighan, Democratic congressman from Ohio. His job included drafting speeches, letters, and memos, and had a salary of $14,500. He would later become Ed’s chief of staff.

George worked on Michael Dukakis’s 1988 US Presidential campaign. He noted that an attraction for him to this campaign was that Michael was a Greek-American liberal from Massachusetts. After this campaign, he became an executive floor assistant for Dick Gephardt, US House of Representatives Majority Leader, which is a post that he held up until he joined the Clinton administration.

Before his career as a journalist, he was an advisor to the Democratic Party. He rose to prominence early on as a communications director for Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign and then he became the White House communications director. Later he was senior advisor for strategy and policy before he departed in December of 1996.

George, upon leaving the White House, became a political analyst for ABC News, and served as a correspondent on This Week, World News Tonight, and Good Morning America, along with other special broadcasts.

In 2002, he became the host of This Week, and ABC News officially named him “Chief Washington Correspondent” in 2005. He was a relative newcomer to the show when he got this promotion, usurping longtime panelists and short term co-hosts Cokie Roberts and Sam Donaldson.

All Too Human is this new generation political memoir that is written from the refreshing perspective of somebody that got their hands on the levers of awesome powers from an early age. By the time he was 30, he was at Bill Clinton’s side through the presidential campaign of 1992, and for the 5 years that followed, he was rarely ever more than a step away from the president and the rest of his other advisors at each important moment of Clinton’s first term.

What Liar’s Poker did to Wall Street, this book will do to politics. It is an intimate and irreverent portrait of how the nation’s weighty business gets conducted by those whose egos and idiosyncrasies aren’t any sturdier than anybody else’s.

Including sharp portraits of Colin Powell, the Clintons, Al Gore, Dick Morris, and numerous others, along with revelatory and candid accounts of the famous triumphs and debacles of one administration that constantly went over the top, this is a brilliant mix of pragmatic idealism and insight. It’s destined to be the most enduring and important book to ever come out about the Clinton administration.
