Frank Bruni

Frank Bruni (Frank Anthony Bruni) was born on October 31st, 1964 and is currently 60 years old. Frank Bruni was born in White Plains, New York, USA. Bruni attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Columbia University where he received a Master of Science degree in journalism.

Frank Bruni is one of the most prominent American journalists who has worked for more than thirty years in the industry. Working for The New York Times, he held various roles, including chief restaurant critic, op-ed columnist, Rome bureau chief, and White House correspondent.

Bruni made history as the first openly gay op-ed columnist for The New York Times. In 2016, the National Gay and Lesbian Journalists Association honored him with the Randy Shilts Award for his work promoting equality for LGBTQ people.

He became a full professor at Duke University in 2021 and taught media learning classes. In 2024, Roy Cooper, the North Carolina governor, honored him with the state's highest honor for a civilian in the North Carolina Award. He got the award for his significant contributions to literature.

From his home in North Carolina, Frank Bruni continues to write his weekly newsletters for The New York Times. He is also a Contributing Opinion Writer and occasionally sends in essays for the paper.

It was in 1993 that Frank Bruni published his debut work, A Gospel of Shame. In the work, he exposed a church administration only interested in concealment rather than compassion, as it protected pedophiliac priests.

The work focuses on a case in which a private detective from Rhode Island is doggedly trying to find a priest who had molested him three decades earlier while he was in elementary school. When he finally found him, he had not changed his ways, and it was up to Fitzpatrick to do his best to shine a light on a problem the church had been denying for years.

In 1996, Frank Bruni published Consumer Terrorism alongside Elinor Burkett. This is work in which the authors wage war against bad service and shoddy products.

Aimed at consumers who have been ripped off, it teaches you how to go on the offensive and get what you deserve. It explains who to talk to the wrong and right way to complain and what you should expect when you present your case most effectively.

Half a dozen years later, Frank Bruni published his first political novel, Ambling Into History. He chronicles the Bush presidential campaign and his first eight months as president. He goes behind the scenes and provides some insights into the presidents' sometimes overlooked positives and often chronicled weaknesses.
