I discovered Don Winslow after a friend started ranting about The Border during a conversation. Interestingly enough, I still haven’t read it. My friend’s rant pushed me to give Winslow a shot because his complaints about the book were primarily aimed at the author’s political beliefs, which fascinated me because he has a decent collection of Don Winslow novels, and he still re-reads them to this day.

From the little I’ve read, I can understand why my friend refuses to abandon Winslow despite the political philosophies that separate them. His books are not afraid to explore the lives of morally questionable characters. I can see why his stories would push the buttons of politically passionate individuals. Fortunately, I pay very little attention to politics, if any.
