But he was not always a science fiction writer, as he began writing situational comedies before he got into animated series. David Goodman worked on Family Guy for years and served as a producer and writer on Star Trek: Enterprise, demonstrating his flexibility.

David A. Goodman has also been involved in the production and scriptwriting of movies. He was the producer of the Family Guy spinoff Stewie Griffin, as well as the writer of Fred: The Movie, a 2010 comedy.

He has become one of the most respected producers and writers in the film industry, and for this, he attained a leadership position. Between 2017 and 2021, he served as President of the Writers Guild of America West. In his role, he championed writers’ rights and led negotiations for better terms.

In 2023, David A. Goodman published the science fiction comic Space Job, which follows the crew of the spaceship SS George H.W. Bush.

In 2015, David A. Goodman published The Autobiography of James T. Kirk.

He begins with his birth aboard the USS Kelvin and follows his difficult childhood on Tarsus IV. He would then attend the Starfleet Academy for rigorous training before deployment. Once in the field, he rapidly rose through the ranks since he was so competent at his job.

We follow Kirk as the commander of the spaceship Enterprise, where he had to deal with loss, danger, and often difficult choices. Through his personal memories, letters, and logs, we gain insights into his strong beliefs, courage, and deep respect for life.
