Currently, she is a theater professor at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. Before this role, she was an assistant professor at California State University.
As a professional singer, Billings has performed in nightclubs and theaters across the United States. In 2004, she won the New York MAC Hanson Award as Cabaret Artist of the Year.
