Albert Einstein was born on March 14th, 1879. Albert passed away April 18th, 1955 at 76 years old. Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Kingdom of Württemberg, Germany. Einstein attended ETH Zurich where he received a teaching diploma and the University of Zurich where he received a PhD.

Albert Einstein was a world famous theoretical physicist, and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921 for his services to theoretical physics, and particularly for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect, and is renowned for his Theory of Relativity. Along with his scientific work, he was an influential humanist that spoke widely about social causes, politics, and ethics. After he left Europe in 1940, he taught at Princeton University.

His theories were instrumental in shaping the atomic age, and E=mc² (mass-energy equivalence, arising from special relativity) has been called the most famous equation.

He was born in the German Empire, and he moved to Switzerland in 1895, forsaking his German citizenship the following year. When he was 17, he enrolled in the physics and math teaching diploma program at the Swiss federal polytechnic school in Zurich, graduating in 1900. He got his Swiss citizenship the following year, which he’d keep for the rest of his life, and later secured a permanent job at the Swiss Patent Office in Bern.

In 1905, he submitted a successful PhD dissertation to the University of Zurich. 1905, sometimes described as a miracle year, he published four groundbreaking papers. In them, he outlined his theory of the photoelectric effect, explained Brownian motion, and introduced his special theory of relativity. He also demonstrated if his theory is correct, energy and mass are equivalent to one another.

While he was visiting the US in 1933, Hitler came to power in Germany. Albert was horrified at the Nazi persecution of his fellow Jews, chose to stay in the US, and was given American citizenship in 1940. On the eve of World War II, he endorsed a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt that alerted him to the potential German nuclear weapons program and recommended the US start similar research.
