Just finished listening to “The Covenant of Water” and it was absolutely brilliant. I didn’t think I could love it as much as “Cutting for Stone” but I loved it more. You just care about all the characters and their lives so much. Verghese does a wonderful job narrating. Don’t miss this book!
I just finished Covenant of Water and found it to be so engrossing and, sometimes, overwhelming as I read about the emotions of the characters: the young bride, her growing family, the Scottish doctor, the unhappy doctor’s wife and the lovely artist who helped save the damaged Scot. The different lives and worlds of the characters flowed, as did the real main character: the Pamba river. The novel is rich in color and detail and I found it to be an epic story that stays with you, even after you’ve read the last chapter.
