50 Cent

50 Cent (Curtis James Jackson III) was born on July 6th, 1975 and is currently 49 years old. 50 Cent was born in New York City, New York, USA.

Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent, is an American rapper, actor, and TV producer. He started making music in 1996, and by 1999–2000, he had recorded his first album Power of the Dollar. But before it was released, he was shot nine times in a 2000 attack, and the label dropped him.

In 2002, he released a mixtape called Guess Who’s Back?, which caught the attention of rapper Eminem. Eminem signed him to Shady Records, with help from Dr. Dre and Interscope Records.

His first big album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (2003), was a huge hit. It reached #1 on the charts and had popular songs like “In da Club” and “21 Questions.” That same year, he started his own label, G-Unit Records, with fellow rappers Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. His next album, The Massacre (2005), also did very well and featured the hit “Candy Shop.”

His later albums—Curtis (2007), Before I Self Destruct (2009), and Animal Ambition (2014)—didn’t do as well, and critics had mixed opinions. He then shifted more into acting and producing, most notably creating and starring in the hit TV series Power (2014–2020) and its spin-offs through his company, G-Unit Films and Television.

Over his career, 50 Cent has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and won many major awards, including a Grammy and an Emmy. He acted in movies like Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (2005), Home of the Brave (2006), and Righteous Kill (2008). In 2023, Billboard ranked him 17th among the 50 greatest rappers and named him one of the top artists of the 2000s. His album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and the song “In da Club” were both named among the best of the 2000s by Rolling Stone.

50 Cent’s book The 50th Law focuses on strategy and being fearless. It's partly based on 50 Cent’s life story, showing how he rose from a tough neighborhood hustler to a successful musician. It also shares lessons from famous historical figures like Abraham Lincoln, Sun Tzu, Socrates, Napoleon, Malcolm X, and James Baldwin.

The book came from the friendship and respect between 50 Cent and Greene. 50 Cent liked Greene’s earlier book, The 48 Laws of Power, which is very popular in the hip hop community. He asked his manager to set up a meeting with Greene. Greene was surprised by 50 Cent’s calmness and sharp thinking. They then decided to work together on a new book blending their experiences.

Greene said 50 Cent showed the same qualities that famous thinkers like Machiavelli saw in strong leaders. 50 Cent added that Greene’s books describe street-smart strategies, even if hustlers didn’t know the official names for what they were doing.

The book has 10 chapters, each focusing on a different part of being fearless. Each chapter starts with a story from 50 Cent’s life growing up in Southside Queens and ties it to examples from history — people like Malcolm X, Miles Davis, Sun Tzu, Machiavelli, and more.

The 50th Law debuted at #5 on The New York Times bestseller list and was also a hit with USA Today. It got good reviews: The New York Post called it "a modern-day Art of War," The Guardian compared it to the work of Machiavelli and Sun Tzu, and Library Journal said it’s a great read for anyone who wants to succeed in business or life.
