The Derek Storm novels have been recommended to me countless times but since I always tried to avoid anything with bestseller status, it was not until last month that I started reading the series.
I also had my doubts when I discovered the lead was named Nikki Heat – I mean who names a character Heat. It seems like something you would find in corny romance novels.
As such, I was pleasantly surprised to find the novels and the lead lived up to the hype. Nikki the lead is a tough female cop who is all about, her life and relationship.
What makes it all come together is her love for detective work in which she is very competent which is perhaps why she makes for a very likable character.
Okay, how is this a real thing? I thought these books were a joke. But then I went to Amazon, and there they were; real-life books written by the fictional Richard Castle on Amazon, where I could buy them.
I feel like I’m the only one that appreciates the absurdity of this entire situation. And if that wasn’t bizarre enough, the books are really good. Nathan Fillion portrayed Richard Castle on TV, but I doubt he can actually write.
Whoever they hired to write the Nikki Heat series has done a decent job. And if you watched the TV show, you will recognize moments and occurrences in the Nikki Heat series that took inspiration from the show.
Again, this is mind-blowing. Fillion’s character mentioned that he was writing a book series based on his adventures with Kate. I can’t believe they went ahead and wrote the books.
