Add in a feisty mill girl, that is determined to fight against injustice, and you will be reading on through the night. It’s filled with sorrow, joy, and a huge pinch of fun. “Welcome to Weaver Street” is the first novel in the “Weaver Street” series and was released in 2022. A story of loss, love, and triumph. In July of 1916 Tom and Kitty Conlon arrive in Liverpool in order to claim the house that Tom’s great-uncle has bequeathed him in his will. The move to England could not have come at a better time for them. Dublin is in turmoil after the Easter Uprising and Kitty’s brother is currently in prison. The house in Weaver Street is everything that they had been hoping for, and after they had a shaky start with her new neighbors, Kitty believes that the world’s her oyster. Until Tom gets conscripted into the Navy, that is. Now that Tom’s away, it is all up to Kitty and the rest of the women of Weaver Street to get one another through the war. Chrissie brings all of these characters to life, and is such an engrossing story that’ll interest readers the entire time. There are good strong characters, and a solid storyline. She writes so descriptively about each of these characters you’ll feel like you know them inside out. “Hard Times on Weaver Street” is the second novel in the “Weaver Street” series and was released in 2023. While Liverpool and all its residents start healing from the memories and wounds of World War I, life on Weaver Street in 1924 is blessedly peaceful. Widow Kitty Conlon is at number 11 and dreaming about her upcoming nuptials to John, and at number 9 Maggie, her best friend, is cursing her own bad luck while juggling the demands of her cantankerous mom, fly-by-night beau, and stroppy daughter. Mavis, at number 15, has this mysterious new lodger, as further along the street the O’Malley family are missing their beloved Ireland. However while the Depression starts biting, and the Muller family’s arrival on Weaver Street signals the worrying drumbeats of conflict coming from Germany, this fragile peace and happiness Liverpool was enjoying looks destined to end. And while the neighbors all pull together in the toughest of times, the women on Weaver Street face the prospect of waving their menfolk off to war.
