In 1979, Trevor Eve played Detective Eddie Shoestring in
Shoestring, a BBC series that aired until the following year. It was a massive hit that was just the big breakthrough he needed. Later, he would become famous for his work as Peter Boyd, the Detective Superintendent in
Waking the Dead, the BBC drama which aired from 2000 to 2001.
Trevor also worked in theatre and was quite successful. He was the winner of the 1982 Laurence Olivier Award for the work
Children of a Lesser God and for
Uncle Vanya in 1997.

He married Sharon Maughan, the actress, in 1980, and together they have three children, one of whom is Alice Eve, the actress.
