I read Turow’s ‘Presumed Innocent’ because a synopsis on Goodreads called it the most suspenseful book in decades. I bought the book with the intention of writing a scathing review explaining why that sentence was obnoxious, arrogant, and completely wrong.

But I was the one in the wrong because ‘Presumed Innocent’ was everything fans of Turow said it was. I was particularly fascinated by the courtroom scenes because Turow is a legal expert, and he goes to great lengths to explain the various legal technicalities in the book.

I appreciated the insight. This is the first time that an overhyped novel has exceeded my expectations. I’m curious to see if the other books in Turow’s bibliography match the quality of ‘Presumed Innocent.’
