Peter Temple has released some of the best-written crime fiction novels I’ve ever seen. I’m one of those readers who don’t care about the quality of the writing where crime fiction and police procedurals are concerned.
All I want is a strong mystery and decent characters. But you know what? I am starting to change my tune. Temple is forcing me to adjust my standards. I knew he had me on a hook when he began describing the food, and I found myself tasting it on my tongue.
Those small bonuses make all the difference in the world because they enhance the immersion.
