Pattie Boyd
Pattie Boyd (Patricia Anne Boyd) was born on March 17th, 1944 and is currently 81 years old. Pattie Boyd was born in Taunton, England.
Pattie Boyd is a photographer and model. During the 60s, she was one of the leading international models and, along with Jean Shrimpton, epitomized the British female look of the time.
She inspired George’s songs “Something”, “I Need You”, “If I Needed Someone”, and “For You Blue”. She also inspired such Eric Clapton songs as “Bell Bottom Blues”, “Layla”, and “Wonderful Tonight”.
She began her modeling career in 1962, modeling in Paris and London. Among her regular assignments during this time were jobs for the UK edition of
Vogue,
Elle in France, and
Vanity Fair, as well as
Honey, along with fashion spreads in papers like
The Times and
The Daily Telegraph. She appeared on the cover of British
Vogue, and got photographed by Brian Duffy, Terence Donovan, and David Bailey, among others. Popular models of the day, like Twiggy, based their modeling appearance on Pattie.
Richard Lester directed her in a TV advert early 1964 in a campaign for Smith’s crisps and then cast her in
A Hard Day’s Night, and her career quickly took off after her romantic involvement with Harrison. Pattie recalls getting further assignments with Vanity Fair and Vogue, along with jobs with Tatler, more TV ads, for Smith’s and for L’Oreal’s Dop shampoo brand, and ads in newspaper fashion pages.
Wonderful Tonight is about Pattie Boyd. She was an iconic figure of the 60s and 70s, and breaks her 40 year long silence in this book, telling her story about how she found herself bound to 2 of the most promiscuous and addictive musical geniuses of the 20th century and became the most famous muse in rock n roll history.
She met the Beatles in 1964 after getting cast in
A Hard Day’s Night as a schoolgirl. 10 days later, a smitten George Harrison proposed to her. For Pattie Boyd, 20 years old at the time, it was the start of this unimaginably complex and rich life while getting welcomed into the Beatles’ inner circle, which included Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, and a veritable who’s who of rock musicians. She describes the dynamics of the band, the tensions, the friendships, the music making, and the wonderful and weird memories she has of Ringo and Maureen, Paul and Linda, and Cynthia and John. Along with her years with George, her first husband.
This was a turbulent yet sweet life, however it took an unexpected twist, beginning with a simple note starting with dearest I. It was followed by a phone call from Eric Clapton asking if she’d gotten his letter. It was the most passionate letter anybody had ever written her.
For the very first time Pattie has decided to pen a book which is heartbreaking and funny, raw and rich, and is fully honest, breathtaking, and open. Here’s the truth, here’s what happened, here’s the story that you have long been waiting for.
