Mari Hannah is what I would call an efficient author. I have a hectic schedule. It has been that way for a decade. And yet, I have read every novel on this list. I read them the moment they come out.
I guess you could call Hannah’s novels average in length: neither short nor long. But her writing is simple and effective. The final chapter of every Mari Hannah novel catches me off guard because I feel like I just started. They go by so quickly.
I wasn’t sure whether I liked the romance. I read crime fiction for the puzzles, and the romance is almost always an unwelcome distraction. But I eventually became invested in the romantic entanglements of Kate Daniels.
After many recommendations and positive reviews from crime fiction readers, I decided to give Mathew Ryan series a try. Mari Hannah always stands out when it comes to characterizations in her novels. When I read the first book in DCI Kate Daniels, it gave me a taste of a very satisfying crime read, and I ended up reading the entire series in 2 weeks. Stone and Oliver have darkness, many puzzling things and twists that will keep the reader on their toes. Believe me when I tell you that nobody writes police drama like Hannah, as evident in the series. The stories are character-driven and well layered, with an intriguing mystery at its centre.
