Kenneth Bressett (Kenneth Edward Bressett) was born on October 5th, 1928 and is currently 96 years old. Kenneth Bressett was born in Keene, New Hampshire, USA. Bressett attended Dresser Business School and the University of Wisconsin.

Kenneth Bressett is known as an American editor and numismatist who has done a lot of work in coin collecting. For years, he worked as an editor at Red Book of U.S. Coins where he started working in the mid-1950s.

For more than 75 years, he has been promoting the hobby and study of numismatics. He has also published numerous works on a variety of themes ranging from standard reference books to articles on United States coins, British coins, paper currency, and ancient coins.

Bressett developed an interest in coins in 1937 when a neighbor gifted him one Belgian and one Chinese coin. He became an avid collector throughout his high school years and that continued when he worked in a grocery store as a clerk. By 1947, he was a member of the American Numismatic Association and began attending their conventions.

During the 1950s, he started photographing coins collected by famous collectors such as William Herbert Sheldon and Louis E. Eliasberg. It was during this time that Kenneth documented his discoveries of 12 new and unique colonial coins.

While he worked at Red Book and Whitman Publishing, Kenneth Bressett took the time to write several books. He ultimately became an editor at Whitman Red Book and Blue Book. When Yeoman the editor of Red Book retired in 1971, he became the Publisher and Editor of the Whitman Numismatic Journal.

Bressett consulted for the F. Newell Child’s collection and was also a member of the Lyndon B. Johnson-appointed Assay Commission. He has also taught an ANA seminar and at Colorado College.

Kenneth Bressett published his most popular work The Guide Book of United States Currency, 7th Edition in 2017. The work is a guide to paper currency in the US from the Civil War era to the present. It comes with a price guide for small and large notes, Treasury notes of the 1812 War, and other aspects of currency such as the printing and design of cash, printing and engraving, and signatures on currency among other things.

In 2022, Kenneth Bressett published Bible Lore and the Eternal Flame in which he provides a roadmap of the New and Old Testaments. He chronicles Old and New Testament artifacts from glass, oil lamps, pottery, and money too. He explores the features of the Tyrian shekel and the Roman denarius and offers insights into the trading and daily life of Biblical times.
