Say You’re Sorry, a novel from Karen Rose’s booklist, is tremendous. Especially the way she makes you feel a measure of pity for a serial killer. Gideon’s terror for Eden is so thick you could cut it with a knife. That said, it still makes you want to cook Russian Honey Cake and Piroshki.
I Can See You was the one that introduced me to her work, and it led me to get all of her books and read them in proper order. Even reread a couple of them. It’s a fantastic novel, and I was even able to correctly guess who the killer was.
A huge thank you to this booklist, I had no idea that the third book in the Sacramento series was out!
I am a big fan of J.D. Robb and a friend recommended me to read “Say You’re Sorry”. I was very glad they did. A great serial killer thriller that was right up my alley. Excited to see what Karen brings us next!
Karen Rose is one of the better romantic suspense authors on the market. If you asked me to explain what makes her so special, I would highlight her balanced approach to storytelling.
Take ‘Die for Me’ as an example. How many serial killers have we seen in mystery novels? Too many, to the point where I don’t need to see another one.
But ‘Die for Me’ was great because we got a little bit of everything, from the mystery and suspense to the romance, some drama, and decent amounts of action. Admittedly, I don’t think Karen is unique in that arena. I only recently discovered the romantic suspense genre.
It never occurred to me that you could combine those two elements. I’ve always visualized suspense and romance as two separate genres.
I like her books but they are way too long for me. There’s too much repetition that makes for a longer book.
Just finished I Can See You. WOW!! What a thriller!! Loved it. Great characters!!
