Kaja Blackley
Kaja Blackley is best known as a graphic artist and creator who has made a name for himself for his highly visual storytelling.
The Canadian native spent his earlier years in New York City. As such, he believes that living in New York is what led him on the path to becoming a creative person. Even though he never believed that the city held any beauty even as a child, he found the creative energy in it to be intoxicating.
As a child, Kaja Blackley used to spend his weekends on comic books such as
Chronicles of Narnia and
Where the Wild Things Are. It was these books and cartoons that opened his mind and made him into a very imaginative child. He loved to draw, but it was not long before he realized that he also loved writing stories.
Aside from his debut novel
Maggie MacCormack and the Witches’ Wheel, one of his stories has also been adapted into a film in Hollywood. He was also named on
Maclean Magazine’s list of the
One Hundred Canadians to Watch.
He currently makes his home in Canada, where he lives with his family.

The work tells the story of a twelve-year-old, ginger-haired girl named Maggie. Since she has been tossed from one foster home to another all her life, she has become resourceful, suspicious, scrappy, and independent.
At the beginning of the story, she finds herself in a very welcoming family but she feels that despite the charm and eccentric residents, there is something very irregular about her new home. Slowly, she starts to change who she is, but it may just be too late for her, as there may be danger just around the corner.
