John Knowles: Biography

John Knowles was born on September 16th, 1926. John passed away November 29th, 2001 at 75 years old. John Knowles was born in Fairmont, West Virginia.

John Knowles is probably best known for his Standalone Novels. There are currently 7 novels available. The first standalone was released in 1963 with the novel Morning In Antibes. The most recently released novel was The Private Life of Axie Reed which was released in 1986.

John Knowles also wrote the Peace series which has 2 books including A Separate Peace and Peace Breaks Out.

Knowles graduated from the Phillips Exeter Academy, and after spending time in the US Army Air Forces, he went to Yale University. He graduated from Yale in 1949. He wrote for The Yale Record while there, and then wrote stories for the Hartford Courant prior to becoming a writer.

His novel A Separate Peace is based on his time at Phillips Exeter Academy.
