John was fired from his first job at Chick-fil-A for using his arm to stir the lemonade.

After graduating from Samford University with a journalism degree in 2006, he moved to Colorado and in 2009 was performing in open mic nights and at local comedy clubs, as well as churches, casinos, and restaurants.
His first performance was in 2009 at an open mic night at a Chili’s. Then in 2012 he won The Denver Improv’s Got Laughs Competition, The Loonees Comedy Competition, and he appeared as a finalist on Comedy Central’s Up Next Comedy Competition.
In summer of 2016, he worked on a 3 minute comedy sketch called “Christian Music: How It’s Made”. It was written by John and produced by Aaron Chewning. They starred as 2 record executives telling this new Christian band how to make it big in the music business. He gained a new success after the video went viral. It has more than 2 million views on YouTube.
Delete That: (And Other Failed Attempts to Look Good Online) is an irreverent and candid look at the ridiculous ways that we all attempt to make ourselves look better online, from a popular standup and internet comedian whose videos have been viewed more than 1 billion times.
He wasn’t always recognizable as that guy from the hilarious video in a grocery store. Growing up as part of a homeschool family of 10 in rural Georgia with Mennonite grandparents and a high school job working at Chick-fil-A, he was a rather unlikely candidate for internet. Or despite all of that, or possibly because of it, he passionately pursued his dreams of stand up comedy.
John offers laugh-out-loud, heartfelt observations on the absurd ways we attempt to make ourselves look better online.
