Jerry Mitchell (Jerry W. Mitchell ) was born in USA. Mitchell attended Harding University where he received an Undergraduate Degree in Communications and Ohio State University where he received a Master's in Journalism.

In T.V. actor,Jerry Levine, played him in the 1996 Rob Reiner film Ghosts of Mississippi, which was about the murder of Medgar Evers and the late attempt to catch the killer Byron De La Beckwith. He was a consultant for the 1999 Discovery Channel documentary Killed by the Klan and was featured in the documentary Civil Rights Martyrs, which aired in February 2000.
