Howard Stern
Howard Stern (Howard Allan Stern) was born on January 12th, 1954 and is currently 71 years old. Howard Stern was born in Jackson Heights, New York, USA. Stern attended Boston University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcasting and film.
Howard Stern is a controversial American radio show host best known for
The Howard Stern Show.
It all began when the young, shy, and awkward Stern was introduced to radio by his father, who happened to be a sound engineer. He would then start producing his own shows on tape and worked at the school radio station while he was in college.
Following his graduation from college, he held several on-air jobs across the Midwest before he started working with Robin Quivers in Washington, D.C. Combining provocative interviews, self-deprecating jokes, and commentary on taboo subjects, their radio show soon topped the charts in D.C.
After a dispute with management, Quivers and Stern were fired and moved to New York City, where they signed on with WNBC-AM. In 1985, he started hosting
The Howard Stern Show on WXRK-FM, and by the following year, the show had become a nationally syndicated program.
Even though the show was criticized for being misogynistic and racist, Stern refused to change his provocative show, citing the First Amendment. However, when he came under too much scrutiny, he moved to Sirius Satellite Radio, where the FCC could not censor him due to his content and language.
In 1993, Howard Stern published his first memoir,
Private Parts, an easy-going and sometimes humorous take on his life. He is candid and frank about his public and private life, from his childhood in New York to the awkward times in college and the fun that he had becoming a top guy on radio.
Stern would go more professional with his second work,
Miss America, as he focuses more on his radio career rather than his family. He showcases the ins and outs of the production of his radio program, including how he assessed his celebrity guests, his relationship with his computer and his crew, and his coverage of the biggest stories over the decades.
Howard Stern Comes Again is a work that he published in 2019 in which he chronicles the life of struggle and success of some of the biggest celebrities in the United States. From Harvey Weinstein to Jerry Seinfeld, Lady Gaga to Tupac Shakur, he offers honest and personal reasons for the interviews of how the best of the best struggled but fought hard to finally prevail.
