Graeme Garden
Graeme Garden (David Graeme Garden) was born on February 18th, 1943 and is currently 83 years old. Graeme Garden was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. Garden attended the University of Cambridge.
Graeme Garden is best known as an actor, comedian, broadcaster, and writer who has worked for many decades on TV and radio.
He made his name working on The Goodies, where he not only performed but also wrote some of the episodes. The show combined situational comedy with mixed funny sketches as it became one of the most popular shows on British TV.
He initially got into radio during the 1960s as he started performing and writing on I’m Sorry, I’ll Read That Again, the radio sketch show. He would also become a panelist on I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, a long-running improvised comedy panel show.
Graeme was part of the duo that came up with The Unbelievable Truth, the panel game that aired on BBC Radio 4. The game used hidden facts inside false statements as the core of its gameplay.
Graeme Garden has also performed and written episodes of situational comedies such as Doctor in the House and made appearances in shows such as Broaden Your Mind and Twice a Fortnight. He has also lent his voice to Bananaman, the animated series.
Garden has had multiple on-camera and behind-the-microphone roles. He has also been an actor in audio dramas, written for radio sketch shows, and was the writer or chair on many comedy panel games.
In 2009, Graeme Garden published
The Doings of Hamish and Dougal, a collection of funny material and scripts based on the comedy spinoff by a similar name.
It is a collection of scripts from the show that originally aired on BBC Radio 4. Featuring two elderly characters from Scotland, it also has stories about the local Laird, Mrs. Naughtie, and the many adventures in the life of a character named Glen.
In addition to the scripts, the collection includes humorous features and village scenes to add to the world of the characters.
In his 2005 work
You’ll Have Had Your Tea, Graeme published an audiobook that brought together several comedy episodes from the I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue show on BBC Radio 4.
These follow Hamish and Dougal, who are two elderly Scottish characters who go on silly adventures such as running a funny election, offering their help as builders, and gambling after winning prizes. Every episode comes with characters such as Mrs. Naughtie.
It also comes with festive specials and brings to life classic comic sketches.
Graeme Garden changed things up in his 2013 work The Unbelievable Truth, a trivia and humor book that gets its name from the panel show of the same name that aired on BBC Radio 4.
It brings together facts from the TV and radio programs, which it then presents in a cabinet of curiosities format.
The work also comes with humorous essays written by Garden that have hidden truths inside unlikely lies that the author designed to test his audience’s ability to ferret out the real from the fake.
It is a work that covers several topics as it presents a range of unusual and what has been called surprising information.
